Because of the decline of lottery tickets sales and the high competition of brick and mortar casinos, West Virginia, particularly its lottery regulator, is considering the option of expanding online gaming and is planning to meet with the casino executives of the state. According to the current laws, West Virginia is allowed to offer online lottery ticket sales without additional legislation, but expanding to online gaming needs political action. John Musgrave, the director of the West Virginia Lottery, told reporters that they believe that casinos in West Virginia can move in that direction, but they still have to decide how online gaming is going to be implemented.
