Police Officer in Florida Sentenced For Gambling Crimes

welcome-to-florida-75x75A former law enforcement official of the Fraternal Order of Police in Florida was charged and sentenced for running an illegal lottery, conducting illegal transactions and possessing a slot machine. Nelson Cuba pleaded guilty and he is now under house arrest for a year. He also has four years probation and must pay $30,000 to a homeless veteran’s charity including $250 per month during his home arrest and probation period. Also, Cuba can never be a police officer again. The gambling ring of Cuba and his partner Robbie Freitas generated over $300 million between 2009 and 2011. During a raid in 2013, it was finally busted up.
