Slots Won’t Be Legalized in Connecticut in 2015

land-based-casino-slot-machines-2-75x75The proposal to legalize slot machines outside tribal casinos has been denied by Bob Duff, the senate majority leader of Connecticut. Speaker Jim Amann proposed the idea to put slots at off-track betting sites near the border with Massachusetts as an answer to the increased competition from neighbouring states which are about to open the doors of new casinos. However, Duff believes that this is not a solution and added that any gaming decision has to be done in consolation with the tribes. According to two spokespersons from two Indian casinos, Amann’s idea is against the revenue-sharing compacts between the casinos and the state.
